Skating should not depend on winter weather or access to a refrigerated rink. That shared belief connects Glice with the International Skating Union's World Ice Skating Day: a global invitation for people to discover skating, often for the first time.
A partnership built around access
For the fourth edition of World Ice Skating Day on December 14, 2025, the ISU welcomed Glice as an official partner. The collaboration enabled participating Glice locations to join the celebration with official World Ice Skating Day branding and activities.
Glice synthetic ice can be installed without refrigeration or water and used in climates and venues where conventional ice is impractical. That makes it a useful platform for the event's access goal: bringing skating experiences to communities beyond established ice-sport regions.
The story began with the inaugural event
Glice's recovered 2022 draft documented support for the inaugural World Ice Skating Day on December 4, 2022. It described events at Glice-powered rinks in Hong Kong, Mexico, and Europe, showing how the same celebration could reach skaters across very different climates.

World Ice Skating Day in 2026
The ISU has announced that the fifth World Ice Skating Day will take place on December 20, 2026. Its announcement also points back to the 2025 collaboration with Glice as part of the initiative's effort to broaden access to skating.
For communities, venues, schools, and clubs, the invitation remains simple: create a welcoming place to skate and give more people the chance to step onto a rink.
