The Technology
What Is a Skatemill?
A Skatemill is a stationary machine used to work on skating techniques by analyzing the mechanics of how someone skates. It provides a controlled, repeatable environment where coaches can isolate specific stride phases and identify mechanical issues that are impossible to spot during open-ice skating.
Glice’s cutting-edge Swiss-engineered Skatemill supports speeds between 3–30 km/h (1.9–19 mph) and inclinations up to 8 degrees for strength and endurance-building programs. Both forward and backward skating can be trained and analyzed.
Today, Skatemills are a core training tool at elite hockey development centers, NCAA programs, professional clubs, and ambitious private training facilities worldwide. Combined with Glice synthetic ice, they form the backbone of year-round, ice-independent hockey training.
Why the Glice Skatemill Is the Standard for Elite Training
Isolate and Perfect Every Stride Phase
Open-ice practice can't reveal what a Skatemill can. Coaches see exactly where power leaks, where edges fail, and where milliseconds are lost — then fix them in real time, rep by rep, at precisely controlled speeds.
Build Explosive Speed and Endurance
Train at 3–30 km/h with inclines up to 8 degrees. The Skatemill builds skating-specific power and conditioning that translates directly to game performance — no ice time required.
Forward and Backward Skating Analysis
Both skating directions are fully supported. Defensemen work backward crossovers, forwards refine their acceleration — every stride is measurable, repeatable, and correctable.
The Centerpiece of Any Training Facility
The Skatemill anchors a complete Glice Hockey Center — combining synthetic ice, interactive shooting, and treadmill technology into one year-round, ice-independent training environment.

Train on Glice. Perform on Ice.
The Glice Skatemill trains on a skating belt made with the world renown Glice technology - calibrated for ice skate blades. Combined with surrounding Glice synthetic ice panels, it forms a complete training ecosystem — replicating real ice conditions for stride work, edge drills, and speed development. Year-round access, zero ice dependency.
Train Smarter. Compete Harder.
The Glice Skatemill delivers controlled, repeatable conditions that open ice cannot match — isolating stride mechanics at precise speeds and inclines for measurable improvement.
Designed and engineered in Switzerland. Trusted by elite training programs worldwide.
The Synthetic Ice Behind Every Skatemill.
The Glice Skatemill pairs with the highest-performing synthetic ice in the industry. Fraunhofer lab-tested.
Quality Your Players Can Feel.
Compared to conventional training methods, the difference is immediate.
Every detail reflects the standard your players demand.
Smooth, Realistic Glide
52% lower friction than the next-best synthetic ice (Fraunhofer-validated). The skating surface delivers natural, predictable blade response — translating Skatemill training directly to on-ice performance.
Clean Surface
6% less abrasion than the next-best competitor. Minimal shavings keep the playing surface pristine and maintenance low - the professional look your venue requires.
Glice is engineered to deliver an authentic training experience — from the first session to the thousandth.
Guests notice the quality immediately. The surface stays pristine all day and it became the most photographed feature of our winter programme.
We needed something that matched our brand standards. Glice delivered a rink that looks as premium as the rest of our property - and requires almost zero operational effort from my team.
Glice is the best synthetic ice I've ever worked on. It replicates the feel of real ice better than anything else on the market.
