Anthony Duclair Foundation & Glice Strike Historic Partnership

Bringing hockey to minority communities

We are thrilled to announce a partnership that holds significant importance. Thanks to the Anthony Duclair Foundation a 30 x 15 m (100 x 50 ft) Glice rink is set to be installed at Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. This project stands as an example for promoting diversity within the ice hockey community.

For More Inclusiveness in Ice Hockey

Anthony Duclair’s dedication to promoting the sport in South Florida and combating racism within its ranks has been impressive. With a mission to make ice hockey more inclusive, the establishment of this new synthetic ice rink marks just the beginning of a monumental journey.

Boyd Anderson High School was carefully selected as the site for this initiative due to its diverse student body, with 85% of its students belonging to minority communities. The rink will serve as a platform for various programs, providing every student with the opportunity to experience ice hockey firsthand on this outdoor synthetic rink. Through these programs, students will not only learn the fundamentals of hockey but also the values of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Speaking on the significance of the rink, the NHL Senior Vice President Rob Knesaurek emphasized its potential to engage new participants and fans, not only in Florida but beyond. Synthetic ice technology opens doors to communities where traditional ice rinks may not be feasible, thereby democratizing access to the sport.

A  Rink That Democratizes Ice Skating

At Glice, we are proud to be part of a project that aligns so closely with our core values. From the outset, our mission has been to democratize ice sports and make them accessible to everyone. The opportunity to collaborate on such a groundbreaking endeavor fills us with immense pride and excitement as we work towards turning this dream into reality.

Anthony Duclair Foundation

Together with the Anthony Duclair Foundation we are embarking on a journey to not only build a synthetic ice rink but also to build a more inclusive and diverse ice hockey community—one where barriers are broken down, and opportunities are extended to all who share a passion for the sport.
