Glice at the Olympics: a Swiss Curling Moment in Cortina

At Milano Cortina 2026, two Glice curling lanes made the House of Switzerland a hands-on Olympic meeting point for first-time players, families, and fans.

Glice is a Swiss-engineered synthetic ice rink system — solid polymer panels that deliver a real skating experience using regular ice skates, with no refrigeration, no water, and no electricity. Installed in over 3,000 rinks across 100+ countries, with performance independently validated by Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute.

There are “pinch-me” moments in sport—and then there is watching people step onto a curling sheet in the heart of Cortina d’Ampezzo, smiling like kids, surrounded by Olympic energy, Swiss flags, and the buzz of the House of Switzerland Italia. That was us during Milano Cortina 2026: proud to represent a piece of the Swiss experience—precision, performance, and warm hospitality—in a place built for celebration.

Two curling lanes, one big meeting point

At the House of Switzerland, we installed two curling lanes—open, approachable, and impossible to ignore. People did not just watch curling; they played it. First-timers, families, die-hard fans, and curious passers-by lined up, learned the basics, and instantly got hooked. The rink was free and open to everyone, and it quickly became one of those places people returned to “just for one more end.”

Then came our curling event, and we were blown away by the turnout. The lanes were an absolute hit, and the atmosphere felt like the best kind of Swiss celebration: friendly competition, laughter, high-fives, and that special Olympic togetherness. We even crowned two lucky winners—and, yes, there was a small celebration afterward.

The feeling people came back for

The magic is in the glide. Glice is built to deliver a skating and sliding experience that matches frozen ice while avoiding water and energy-intensive refrigeration infrastructure. That makes it easier to bring ice-sport experiences to more places, more reliably. If you love the sport, you feel the difference immediately. Learn more about the Glice synthetic curling surface.
